A Journey by Boat
A journey by boat is very exciting (উত্তেজনাকর) and pleasant (আনন্দদায়ক) to me. So whenever (যখনই) I get time and scope, I try to make a journey by boat. Last month my friend Helal, requested me to accompany him to his village home by boat. I immediately agreed to accompany him.
We started our journey at 8 a.m. Our companions were Belal, Rahim and Karim. The stream of the river was quiet (শান্ত). As both the wind and the stream were favourable (অনুকূল), our boat began to move speedily, making its way easily along the surface of the water of the river.
We were charmed to see the green paddy fields and the jute fields, the thatched cottages of the villagers and the row (সাড়ি) of trees on both the sides of the rivers. We also saw some old people basking in the sun, many boys playing different kinds of games on the banks of the river, some village women carrying river water in pitchers, many fishermen fishing, many boys bathing and different kinds of rowing boats plying in the river.
At about I p.m. the boat reached a market. We got off the boat and took lunch at a restaurant. After taking lunch we offered our Zohar prayer at a mosque. Then we took rest for about an hour. At about 3 p.m. we again got on the boat and restarted our journey. The boatmen began to row the boat as fast as they could. They tried their best to reach the destination before sundown (সূর্যাস্ত) but failed. The beauty of the scene of the golden sunset on the tranquil water of the river cast a magic spell on us. After sunset the stars made their appearance slowly in the cloudless (মেঘহীন) sky one after another. We heard the loud cries of foxes on both the sides of the river.
The boat moved on slowly until it reached the ghat of my friend’s house at about 7 p.m. We got off the boat and went to our friend’s house on foot. Our friend’s parents and brothers and sisters were delighted to see us. They received us cordially.
Whenever a person gets time and scope, he/she should try to make a journey by boat to be free from the monotony of daily life. We should remember that any kind of journey refreshes our mind and gives us energy and enthusiasm to work.
