A Journey by Bus
When we go to short distances by bus, we do not feel like making a journey. But a long journey by bus is a very great experience, It is very exciting (উত্তেজনাকর) and pleasant (আনন্দদায়ক). Whenever I get time and scope (সুযোগ), I try to make a long journey by bus.
Last month I spent my summer vacation with my aunt in Chittagong. I went to Chittagong by bus. I became excited when the day of my journey came. I reached the bus station half an hour before the departure (প্রস্থান) of the bus. I got on the bus at Syadabad Bus Station at about 9. a.m.
The journey by bus from Dhaka to Chittagong was very interesting. The bus started playing at a great speed. Soon we left the city and entered the countryside. As I sat beside a window, I did not miss he opportunity of enjoying the natural beauty of the countryside (গ্রামাঞ্চল) looking through the window. It seemed (মনে হওয়া) to me that the trees, the houses, the small shops and the green fields on both the sides of the road were running backwards (বিপরীত দিকে), I felt very excited and pleased.
When the bus crossed Daudkandi Bridge, we suddenly saw that a truck was coming at breakneck (বিপজ্জনক) speed from the opposite direction. As the truck and the bus neared each other, we were beside ourselves with fright (অত্যন্ত ভীত) because we were apprehensive (শঙ্কিত) that there might be a head-on (মুখোমুখি) collision. Fortunately, we had a narrow escape.
When the bus left Sitakunda, the panoramic beauty of the hills of Chitagong came into my view. I was pleased to see the panorama of the hills and the green fields. The bus was running at a great speed, and I felt drowsy (তন্দ্রালু). At about 4 p.m. the bus reached Chittagong. I got off the bus very quickly. My uncle and aunt were waiting at the station to receive me. They were delighted to see me.
The journey was really pleasant to me. I will never forget this pleasant journey. Whenever a person gets time and scope, he/she should try to make a long journey by bus to be free from the monotony of daily life. We should remember that any kind of journey refreshes our mind and gives us energy and enthusiasm to work.
