Digital Bangladesh
‘Digital Bangladesh’ is at present a buzz word (বহুল প্রচলিত শব্দ) to all classes of people of Bangladesh. Its aim is to build up an ICT based society where information will be available online and where all possible tasks of the government and other organizations will be performed using digital technology. Making a digital Bangladesh was an election manifesto of the Bangladesh Awami League in 2008. After winning in the 9 National Parliamentary Election, the Awami League has decided to develop Bangladesh into a digital country by 2021.
Bangladesh achieved independence in 1971. About 45 years have passed since it achieved freedom. But it is still burdened (ভারাক্রান্ত) with the problems of poverty, overpopulation, unemployment, corruption, food deficit (ঘাটতি), natural calamities (দুর্যোগ), power crisis (সংকট) etc. Considering these, the present government wants to overcome all these problems by building up a digital Bangladesh. There are many benefits of digital Bangladesh. In digital Bangladesh most of the work will be done by clicking the mouse of a computer. It will save our time and energy. The officers will be free from corruption. There will be no middleman between the government and the people. With the help of ICT (Information and Communication Technology), Bangladesh will be connected with the whole world. Agriculture, health, economy, trade, commerce and all other sectors will be highly improved by this digital technology.
For implementing (বাস্তবে রূপ দেওয়া) this dream of the government, many things are to be done. First of all, production of power supply must be increased, and it must be uninterrupted. Secondly, computer network infrastructures (অবকাঠামো) have to be developed throughout the country. Computer education should be compulsory from the primary level. Thirdly, we have to train our people to acquire ICT skill and ensure equitable access to digital governance. Digital governance (শাসন) will curb (নিয়ন্ত্রণ) crime and corruption and pave the way (পথ প্রশস্ত করা) for our country’s rapid development. So, our government has to take initiatives to ensure everything to build up a digital Bangladesh.
To make a digital Bangladesh by 2021 is one of the commitments (অঙ্গীকার) of the present government. If our govt. succeeds in building up Digital Bangladesh, our country will be able to make progress in all sectors. It will be possible for us to uphold ourselves as one of the developed countries of the world after 2021.
