Air Pollution
Air is an important element (উপাদান) of the environment. No living being (জীবিত প্রাণী) can live a single moment (মুহূর্ত) without air. Air pollution is one of the greatest problems all over the world. Air becomes polluted when it contains (ধারণ করে) the elements which are harmful (ক্ষতিকর) to human health. Air is mostly polluted by the smoke produced (উৎপন্ন) by cooking food, making bricks (ইট), melting (গলানো) tar (আলকাতরা) for road construction (নির্মাণ) and so on. Railway engines and power houses pollute air by burning (পোড়ানো) coal (কয়লা) and oil. Cars, buses and trucks plying on the streets are responsible (দায়ী) pollution as they create (সৃষ্টি করে) smoke by burning diesel and petrol. Dumped (পরিত্যক্ত) or untreated (এলোমেলো) human waste (মানুষের বর্জ্য) also causes air pollution. Air pollution causes various diseases to human beings (মানুষ) such as: pneumonia, bronchitis and other respiratory diseases (শ্বাস-প্রশ্বাসজনিত রোগ). To lead a fresh life we should inhale (শ্বাস নেওয়া) fresh air. To keep air fresh, the government should take proper steps. Moreover, the people of all classes should be made conscious (সচেতন) of the harmful consequences (fefe) of air pollution. We should know that as we cannot live without air, we should try our best to prevent air pollution.
