Your Homeland
My country or homeland is Bangladesh. It is a beautiful country in South Asia. She is surrounded on the West, the North, and the East by Indian territory (ভূখণ্ড). She borders Myanmar in the southeast. The Bay of Bengal lies in the south of Bangladesh. The total area of Bangladesh is 1,47,598 square kilometers. She has six divisions and 64 districts. It has a population of about 150 million. According to the bulk (আকার ও পরিমাণ) of this population, she is the eighth largest country in the world.
The land of Bangladesh is mainly plain. The country is crisscrossed (একটির উপর দিয়ে অন্যটি যাওয়া) by hundreds of rivers and canals. There are some hill tracts on her Eastern and South-Eastern parts. Bangladesh has fertile land which produces rice, jute, sugar cane, wheat, maize, and tea. Cotton, oil seeds, and many kinds of fruits are produced in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is troubled with overpopulation, political unrest, terrorism corruption, and crimes. The life of our people has often been shaped by tragedy. Flood, storms, cyclones, tidal waves, droughts, etc. make a lot of damage to our lives and property. Poverty has been an ever-present specter (Often config, y). As a result, nearly seventy percent of the population suffers from malnutrition. Moreover, road accidents are very frequent in Bangladesh. Launch accidents are also common there.
There are many places that are the seats of an ancient civilization. Places like Paharpur, Mahasthangarh, and Mainamati bear the testimony (প্রমাণ) of an ancient civilization. We have three World Heritage Sites in Bangladesh. These are Sompura Mahavihara, the Sundarbans, and the Shatgombuj Mosque at Bagerhat. Cox’s Bazar sea beach is the longest sea beach in the world. Besides, Kuakata of Patuakhali is another coastal tourist spot, where one can see the sunrise and sunset scenes. The Hill Tracts of Rangamati and Bandarban attract a lot of tourists. Many tourists also visit the tea gardens of Sylhet.
